Ebola
The Ebola Epidemic
The Ebola Epidemic first made its appearance in southeastern Guniea on March 23, 2014. After further investigation the World Health Organization determined that the primary resorvoir were bats. Due to the decreased medical supplies and overall infastructure to handle the containment of an epidemic to this proportion, West Africa soon became overtaken by Ebola. Doctors and healthcare professionals from across the United States volunteered their efforts to combating Ebola, some even getting affected by it, however, even with donated resources West Africa struggled to eliminate the epidemic. The Issue
The issue with the Ebola epidemic, other than the increasing number of deaths is the reason behind those deaths. The lack of resources that West Africa had, to deal with the largest epidemic in history, was staggering. With the assistance of countries with a larger amount of resouces, West Africa could've made it out of the hole that the epidemic had dug for the region. To learn more about the issue and what coud've been done to prevent so many deaths in West Africa, read my researched projects linked below.
